More About The Laundry

Hey friends, welcome! Thanks for checking out our website. My name is Addie King, We're from the small town of Black Mountain, NC, nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

Our journey began with a shared vision of my Mom and I to create an eco-friendly store that caters to our community's daily and weekly needs. We've worked hard to bring this dream to life, and we're thrilled to share it with you. Our goal has always been to establish a beautiful and comfortable space where people can come to learn and practice how to make our Earth a little bit happier.

Recently, we've been blessed with the opportunity to expand our team. Luna and Emily have joined us as co-owners, bringing fresh perspectives and renewed energy to our mission. Together, we are passionate about fostering a sustainable future and are excited to continue this journey with you.

This experience has already been incredibly rewarding, especially getting to do it with my best friend. We hope to bring joy, love, and new excitement to our special town, and we are so grateful for each of you who help bring this vision to life.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Addie, Heidi, Luna, and Emily

Addie

Hello I'm Addie, and I wanted to tell you guys a little more about myself, for you to maybe get a better grasp of the people behind the counter. I'm 19 years old and I graduated from high school in 2022. I've known for a long time that I wasn't planning on going the tradition route out of high school, so the fall after I graduated I spent some time in Mexico doing mission work, before giving college a chance. Over the course of that year I grew and learned a lot but still felt as though college wasn't for me during this time. When I came home for summer, my family and I took a trip to Scotland and Ireland and that is where the idea of starting a refillery was born. I fell in love with the concept and told my mom that one day I would love to create one at home. Little did I know that day would come a lot sooner than I expected. When we got back I spent the next 5 months working and saving up money to hopefully travel some more, but when the opportunity arose for us to rent the building we are in now, my entire direction changed. We then officially decided that we wanted to open up our own refillery. After months of hard work we are finally at the point to share the space we have created with you guys. Words cannot express my gratitude for this opportunity and ability to help show people the beauty and simplicity of practicing zero waste.

Emily

I'm thrilled to be part of The Laundry Refillery team alongside Addie and Luna. Three years ago, my husband and I moved to Black Mountain, and we've fallen in love with this community. The warmth of the people and the spirit of supporting local businesses have made it feel like home.

Carter and I met on a gap year trip, and traveled around the world. During our travels, we encountered numerous refillery shops that inspired us.  After moving to black mountain Addie and I became best friends and I admired the concept that she had started with The Laundry. It resonated deeply with us, and when Addie asked us to join in the shared vision we could not say no!

As an entrepreneur at heart, I've always been passionate about clean products and helping brands thrive. I specialize in photography and social media strategy, using these tools to connect with others and promote businesses that align with my values. Stewarding our bodies through clean products is something I hold dear, and I'm excited to contribute to a space that shares this commitment.

I've also always dreamed of starting a coffee shop—a place where community can cultivate, connect, and grow together. Being part of The Laundry Collective feels like the perfect opportunity to bring this dream closer to reality.

I'm genuinely excited to be on this journey with such a passionate team and to serve our community with purpose-driven products and visuals.

Getting to be involved in the Laundry Collective is such a blessing! Having lived in Black Mountain my whole life, I’ve watched this town grow and change over the years and I am so excited to be part of that. I’ve always loved this place and the people here and it's an honor to get to serve them and to help create a space for community and connection.

I grew up in a very environmentally conscious family and being raised with those values has made me very passionate about sustainability. These values are one of the many reasons I fell in love with pottery. In a world where quantity is valued over quality pottery reminds us that there is beauty in the mundane and one lovingly handmade mug is better than a kitchen full of plastic cups. Over the past few years I have learned as much as I could about throwing functional and beautiful pottery. I was lucky enough to spend several months studying at Penland School of Craft. There I was inspired by the values of thoughtfulness, simplicity and sustainability, all of which are echoed in the mission of the Laundry.

So when Addie invited Emily and I into the business I was so excited to get to be part of something so beautiful and meaningful.

Being able to take my love for pottery and incorporate that into this project is an enormous blessing. I have such a heart for every aspect of this business and the best partners in Addie and Emily. I am so excited to get to serve this community and share my love for sustainability and pottery with it
